TAO

Meet Tao, our beloved and inspiring farmer! At 82 years young, Tao has been cultivating sugarcane for over 52 years with unmatched passion and dedication. Originally from Vietnam, Tao moved to the U.S. and, while pregnant with her son, began craving sugarcane. In 1971, she drove all around San Diego, even making a trip up to Los Angeles, only to find a small, aged piece of sugarcane. Determined, Tao didn’t give up. During a walk along the beach in Oceanside, she came across a patch of sugarcane, took a piece, and chewed on half to satisfy her craving. She saved the other half, planting it in her backyard. From that single piece of cane, she has grown nearly three acres of thriving sugarcane today! We are endlessly grateful for Tao’s hard work, knowledge, and the love she pours into cultivating our sugarcane organically and with so much care!

HECTOR

Meet our dedicated co-owner and farmer, Hector! Originally from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, where the cultivation of sugarcane was the main source of income for his ancestors.  Hector brings this deep-rooted love to Cana Love. His journey began when he moved from Florida to San Diego with his girlfriend, Morgan, in search of new opportunities and a change of pace. Together, they found a shared passion for sustainable farming, and soon after, Cana Love was born. Hector's hands-on approach and dedication to upholding his ancestors quality of work makes him an invaluable part of the team. He pours his heart and soul into every crop, ensuring that each sugarcane stalk is grown with care and nurtured by nature. His love for the land inspires us every day to uphold the values of sustainability and community. We’re proud to have Hector as a co-owner and farmer, working hard to provide the freshest, most naturally grown sugarcane with love!
